Carfax wins 2013 MBA Award

Category: Tertiary Buildings $3-5M
Project: NFF Galleries & Atrium Theatre, National Institute of Dramatic Art, Kensington

Carfax were proud winners at the MBA Awards night held on 2nd November 2013.

  • Nancy Fairfax Foyer Galleries (NFF Galleries) – A new cantilevered glazed façade performance space / tutorial rooms, consisting of 4 separate rooms on two levels overlooking the existing foyer and
  • The Atrium Theatre – A partially glass roofed atrium, connecting 2 buildings to be used as an outdoor performance space, while complying with all of the necessary BCA requirements for a entertainment venue, including complete fire services.

As NIDA’s demand for space from both current enrolments, and their students participating in their Open Programme increases, so too must their learning spaces. As extending buildings on their current site is not an option, due to limited space, innovative solutions are required to transform unused space within the existing building to classrooms, rehearsal rooms, theatres and meeting rooms. Thus, the concept of the NFF Galleries and The Atrium Theatre were brought to life in 2012.
