Cootamundra Fire Station Refurbishment

Cootamundra Fire Station Refurbishment

The Cootamundra Fire Station refurbishment project was initiated with the goal of providing a larger modernised station footprint, whilst also keeping the heritage integrity of the existing structure.

The project included the extension of the existing station by creating

  • A stable foundation for a new suspended structural slab to be poured, structural steel frame to be installed and to create a new enlarged Engine Bay trucks and associated equipment
  • Installation of additional internal storage rooms, transition and working spaces to enhance the operation of the facility.
  • Installation of new Male, Female and Accessible facilities including updated locker and changing facilities
  • New training/mess areas along with kitchen facilities
  • Upgrades offices and fitness areas
  • New external hardscapes to enhance egress for both pedestrian and vehicle movements.

The project’s structure has largely remained unchanged to preserve the historical significance of the building, which was originally opened in 1913.

The new finishes both internally and externally have been installed to provide upgraded facilities without taking away the aesthetics of the original station.
