Carfax were engaged to undertake the roof replacement and roof framing upgrades for the Maleny Hotel and bistro, in addition to the external repainting of the hotel facade, bistro and deck overlooking the beer garden. The re-painting works were completed under a Council DA, in consultation with heritage architects and the Sunshine Coast Council’s heritage and architectural planning team, ensuring the works were completed within the Heritage Plan framework for the preservation of the Hotels cultural and heritage aesthetic values.
The project was completed with the Hotel’s bars and bistro remaining open and servicing the Maleny community and its regular patrons throughout the works, providing unique challenges operating in a live environment and ensuring the safety of all staff, patrons and guests of the Hotel.
Other significant challenges during this project included encountering, upgrading and overcoming the many different additions and building techniques used throughout the storied history of the Hotel.
The project resulted in a bright and modern facade, which has replaced the tired and worn looking building, and retains many of the original aesthetic values of the Hotel.
