WTB & WETB Amenities Remediation and Conservation Works, Nielsen Park

WTB & WETB Amenities Remediation and Conservation Works, Nielsen Park

Conservation & restoration work including repairs & upgrades to the Nielsen Park Heritage Western Toilet Block and Women’s Eastern Toilet Block.  The contract incorporated hazardous materials removal, sandstone repair, structural timber repairs, window replacement and repairs, waterproofing, tiling, historic geometric tiles repair, new toilet partitions, extensive carpentry work including roof restructure.  The new amenities fit out including services upgrades, and a feature of this work was the use of exposed copper pipework to reticulate the services around both buildings. Graphic panels were installed to both WTB and WETB buildings which highlighted early images from Nielsen Park sourced from the National Archives.

The project was carried out in a live environment on an extremely busy park precinct.

The project required thoughtful and careful planning, not only due to the heritage nature of the project but the fact it was carried out in a very busy precinct.

Environment considerations and planning played a big part of the project and Carfax are proud of the end result which was a high quality finish with no environmental or WHS incidents.
