Carfax wins 2016 NSW MBA Excellence in Construction Award

Category: Refurbishment/Renovation/Extension
Project: Woodstock House, Plumpton

Carfax were proud winners at the MBA Awards night held on 5th November 2016.

Refurbishment & restoration works were undertaken at Woodstock House, Plumpton to renew & restore an existing historic building including an extension to Pavilion 3. Woodstock House was in a direlict state at the time the contract was awarded to Carfax.

Not only was the project challenging and complex in nature due to the Heritage significance and the state of disrepair, the building had severe damage to the entire structure, due to both active termites, and massive drainage issues which caused structural failures to the building.

The works included lifting & levelling of structure, strengthening foundations, removal and replacement of termite-damaged timber, roofing restoration, including chimney pots, fireplace restoration, structural repairs to brickwork, underpinning, new flooring, new verandahs and courtyard pergola, installation of internal wall linings, re-installation of external cladding, installation of new timber windows, external and internal painting and extemsive associated landscaping and fencing.

Additional works added to the contract at a later stage were the construction of concrete ramps, and handrail installation for disabled access.

The project was completed two months ahead of programme.
