This refurbishment of the Private Club in Sydney CBD was a comprehensive upgrade aimed at revitalising key internal spaces while preserving the building’s character and functionality. The scope of works focused primarily on the ground floor, including the complete renovation of the foyer, reception area, female bathroom and new change room. These areas were transformed through the installation of new bespoke joinery units, refined column, and detailed apse ceiling features that enhance visual appeal of the space. Finishes were upgraded with high-quality tiling and carpet selections to improve durability and aesthetic consistency.
The main entrance has been modernised with the installation of two new double glass sliding doors, improving accessibility, and additional works include full internal repainting, installation of timber wall panelling and skirting throughout. The integration of both passive and dry fire protection systems was installed to meet current safety standards.
Beyond the ground floor, the project extends to the refurbishment of four levels of staircases and three associated stair halls. These areas have been upgraded with new wall panelling, skirting, contemporary lighting solutions, new brass handrails and tactile indicators to improve safety, visibility, and design continuity across all levels. Furthermore, new timber flooring has been installed on each level, complementing the stair upgrades and enhancing the overall material palette.
These works were all completed whilst the club remained fully operational.
