The NBSC Manly Campus project includes the construction of a new Multipurpose sports hall and surrounding landscaping works.
The Hall includes sports courts, facilities for assemblies and performances, and amenities, and accommodates a variety of learning, recreational and communal activities. The new hall provides the students with a place to participate in various sports and fitness activities, hold large gatherings and events and a Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA) that can be used for outdoor learning or for students to gather during lunch.
There were challenges in the construction phase as deliveries and access to the site were restricted to allow for co-ordination with school buses in the morning and afternoon to allow for a safe student t access when entering and leaving the school grounds as the school entrance are on major arterial roads.
Construction noise was closely managed during school hours to minimise any interruptions to the school and its students. Heavy machinery and construction noise was also programmed for out of school hours and school holidays.
The new facilities also include 38kw of solar panel installation, retractable stadium seating, portable stage for presentations, full AV integration with retractable projector screen and adjustable presentation area, hall kitchenette, water harvesting for use to all external areas, retractable basketball backboards, shot clocks and a fully integrated electronic scoreboard.
