The Rozelle Public School Façade Restoration Works involve the conservation, repair and structural upgrading of the historic school building facade located in Rozelle NSW. The project is focused on preserving the heritage significance and architectural character of the existing building while addressing deterioration and structural requirements.
It comprises a programmed sequence of façade restoration works across nominated elevations of the school. The works are divided into milestones covering seismic works, followed by restoration works to Seven (7) Elevations, with a further two (2) being completed in a later stage. The scope of the works involved specialist heritage trades and activities including:
Separate to the heritage restoration, the project also included upgrades to the existing school playground. An existing brick planter was demolished and replaced with two new off-form concrete staircases and tiered seating creating better access for students and staff.
The works were undertaken within an operational school live environment, requiring careful staging, site security and separation of construction activities from students and staff.
The overall objective to deliver a high-quality heritage restoration that protects the building’s significant fabric, improves structural integrity and ensures the historic façades are conserved for continued use by the school community for decades to come has been achieved.
